The issue was allegations and counter-allegations over the complaint of cheating in the board examinations. Halpati has written a letter to the speaker demanding admission of criminal complaint against the education minister.
In his letter Halpati has claimed that the minister has threatened him. "My son Urvesh had appeared in the 12th science examination on March 12, 2012 at Ramkabir School at Kamrej in Surat district. During the examination, the hall supervisor was helping five students to write answers form chits of photocopies of material. My son had informed me about this cheating activity after the paper was over. So I had talked to the teacher of the school, Umesh Thakkar, on phone and suggested that the examinations should be conducted in an unbiased manner."
He has claimed that the education minister had given the reference of a newspaper cutting on March 15. Halpati has written, "I know that your son is cheating in the examination" and during the recess time in the canteen he threatened me, "I will see your son and you as well." He had also told me, ‘My mind is very short-tempered, go away from here otherwise...’”
The MLA said that it is not fair that a peoples' representative is threatened on the premises of the Gujarat assembly by a minister. "You should admit a criminal complaint against education minister Ramanbhai Vora. MLAs including Gyasuddin Shekh, Mohammadjaved Peerjada, Ashwin Kotwal were present at that time. You should also ask them." However, after
repeated efforts, education minister Vora was not
available for comment.
