The Gujarat Education Board will meet in Gandhinagar on Tuesday to discuss changes required in the syllabus of class XI and XII (science stream) for four subjects, before the stream switches to the semester system from June 2011.

The four subjects whose content for study will be discussed at Tuesday's meeting are English, Gujarati, Hindi and Computers. Sources said the science subjects will be taken up at a later date.

The sources said Tuesday's meeting will be attended by experts and teachers of the four subjects.

"They will discuss the four subjects as mentioned in the syllabus of class XI and XII (science stream) and split the entire syllabus for these subjects into four parts, one for each semester," said a source.

The meeting will also discuss which other subjects should be included in each semester along with the four subjects. "We will consider which other subjects to include, and in which semester," a source said.

Teaching methods along with modifications that might be required in the science textbooks will also be discussed. "Once the syllabus is finalised, new books as per the new syllabus will be made available from April 2011," said the source.
