The next government to be elected in the state will have a new seat, as work on the new ministerial enclave on the assembly campus, which will house offices of the chief minister and other ministers, has started from this week.

According to the project plan, the ministerial enclave (in two blocks) will come up adjacent to the Gujarat legislative assembly building. The state government has earmarked Rs110 crore for building the ministerial enclave, which will house offices of the chief minister and other ministers.

“The next state government will operate from the new enclave. The next government will be in place by December, and the enclave will be ready by January,” said a senior govt official.

The enclave will be spread over 10,700 square metre, and equipped with ultramodern amenities and high-tech security equipment.

The North Block of the enclave, which will come up on the north side of the assembly building, will house offices of the CM and cabinet ministers.

The cabinet ministers’ offices will be located on the first and second floors, while the chief minister’s office would occupy the third and fourth floors.

The South Block will house offices of ministers of state. Both blocks will have 5 storeys each.

At present, the chief minister and ministers operate from Block Nos. 1 and 2 in the Sachivalaya.

The CM and cabinet ministers have offices in Block No 1, while ministers of state have offices in Block 2. There are also plans to build five modern gardens, a permanent exhibition venue and five activity parks on the road.
