Siddhpur: Former prime minister HD Deve Gowda visited ancient Matru Shradh Tirth Bindu Sarovar at Siddhpur in Patan district on Wednesday and performed his mother's shradh there. Deve Gowda who came to Gujarat for three days was in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Deve Gowda spent a full day at Sidhpur and later went to Ambaji temple for darshana. He was accompanied by Sidhpur MLA and State health and tourism minister Jaynarayan Vyas.

Deve Gowda reached Sidhpur with Vyas in the morning and spent more then three hours for shradh of his mother. "My mother died in August 2006. Unfortunately, I was away from her when she died so I always feel guilty for that. I was very close to her...When I became prime minister, she had lost her memory and was not able to understand anything.
She never knew that his son became the prime minister. I believe in Indian mythological concept of Matru Sanskar. For very long, I wanted to come to Sidhpur to do shradh of my mother. Today I could fulfill my wish,'' he said after performing the shradh.

According to Vyas, Bindu Sarovar at Sidhpur is the only place in whole India for matru shradh. Thousands of people come here from all parts of India and world for matru shradh. "We will develop it like Golden Temple,'' he said.
