BJP Thursday asked Government to review its policy on China in the light of Army Chief General VK Singh's contention that Chinese troops were present in PoK and Beijing's growing proximity to Pakistan.

"General VK Singh's statement that Chinese army is present in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir-this is an alarming situation," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.

Singh had stated on Wednesday that around 4,000 Chinese troops were present in PoK.

Hussain insisted that the situation has become more serious after the recent strains between the US and Pakistan over the Haqqani issue.

"After the US has cornered Pakistan on this issue, the latter has been growing closer to China. But still our government continues to play a defensive role as always," Hussain said.

"The Manmohan Singh government should wake up and discuss this issue with China," he said.

"This is a very serious issue. The government is failing on both the internal and external security fronts. It should review its policy towards China," Hussain said.
