Goa NCP today demanded a CBI probe into the drugs nexus case saying that it may be linked to terrorism.

"Police cannot investigate against police. The issue is serious and our fear is that it may be linked to terrorism. That's why we are demanding a CBI inquiry," NCP Goa unit spokesperson Trajano D'Mello told reporters after the party's state executive committee deliberated on the issue here.

Seven policemen were suspended after they were found selling drugs to two Israeli drug peddlers - Yaniv Benaim alias Atala and David Driham alias Dudu.

"Since chief minister has not taken any action on our earlier demand made through media, we have decided to meet him personally with the delegation and submit a memorandum," D'Mello said.

"If Kamat doesn't listen than we will discuss the issue with our high command," he said.

Defending the party's decision to not support the BJP's demand of CBI probe into the issue when it was discussed in the Assembly, D'Mello said, "it was a part of coalition dharma that the party legislators supported government in their stand against handing over the case to CBI."

Asked about the party's stand on home minister Ravi Naik, he said NCP did not want to say anything about him.

"We are interested in breaking the drug nexus. All the apprehensions and allegations would be cleared once there is a proper probe into it," he added.
