A 15-year-old girl was battling for life after she was set on fire by three youths, when she resisted a rape attempt at Kushaiguda on the city outskirts today, police said.
The girl, a resident of Padmarao Nagar here, was allegedly confined at a room in Kushaiguda locality by three youngsters, who made an attempt to sexually assault her today, they said.
The three men tied the girl with a rope and poured kerosene and set her ablaze, when she resisted their attempts to rape her, police said adding the seriously injured girl was immediately rushed to an hospital with the help from locals.
The girl reportedly told the trio that she would kill herself rather than fulfilling their advances, after which the youths allegedly poured kerosene on her, police said.
The girl, who is a school drop out, has sustained 60% burn injuries and was undergoing treatment at an hospital. A search has been launched to nab the three persons, Malkajgiri Assistant Commissioner of Police P V Padmaja told PTI.
Kushaiguda police has booked a case on charges of attempt to rape and murder against the youths. Further
