BJP today said its Madhya Pradesh unit and the party-led government were free to take action against tainted legislators or ministers in the state.

"Along with the government, the character of the party is supreme. If both (party and the government) face any problem due to any act of MLAs or ministers, then you are free to take any action against them and in this we are with you," BJP general secretary Anant Kumar said here.

Kumar, in-charge of Madhya Pradesh affairs, was addressing the opening session of the two-day State BJP Executive meeting that began here.

The ruling BJP had been facing criticism in the wake of allegations against Ministers Anoop Mishra, Kailash Vijaywargiya and MLA Kamal Patel, among others, on issues like corruption and violating law.

Praising the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government for taking action against land grabbers, anti-social elements and others, he said the drive should continue.

On inflation, he said party MPs will take out a march up to Rashtrapati Bhawan on opening day of the monsoon session
of Parliament and demand setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to look into the reasons behind price rise.

Kumar termed the soaring inflation as a "major scam" and blamed prime minister Manmohan Singh, agriculture minister Sharad Pawar and finance minister Pranab Mukherjee for the rising prices of essential commodities.
