Four people have died so far in Mizoram in the ongoing thunderstorm and hailstorm for the past two weeks, sources said.
A total of 10,127 houses were damaged and many livestock died along with the people, state disaster management and rehabilitation department officials said here today.
Out of the damaged houses, 3,999 houses were totally damaged and the financial loss due to the destruction of houses was estimated at Rs75 crore, officials said.
They said 1,987 hectares of horticulture area were damaged amounting to at least of Rs144 lakh. The damage done to the properties of the state power and electricity department was estimated at Rs641 lakh as power transmission lines were snapped and power supply disrupted in many places across the state.
