Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad: The nip in the air brought a smile and a song in every Amdavadis' lips. Thursday morning was a pleasant surprise for Amdavadis who were almost sure that with cyclone Phyan skirting away, the pleasant weather of Wednesday too would be just as short lived.
Bracing to face the harsh sun from early morning, the misty air, cold breeze and cloudy morning was hard to resist for majority of the citizens who lost no time in bringing out their woollies and warm razai from the closets with temperatures plummeting to 20 degree Celsius. Some more good news? Here's it: The met department forecast minimum temperature on Friday to be around 18 degree Celsius!
The meteorological centre at Ahmedabad forecast chance of light rain or thundershowers in some areas of the city. While forecast for the state says light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely to occur at many places in all districts of south Gujarat region- Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli and at a few places in all districts of North Gujarat region. However, weather in most coastal areas in all districts of Saurashtra, Kutch and Diu will mainly remain cloudy.
Pollution-ridden Amdavadis two-wheeler riders who generally hide behind dupattas, hand gloves, kerchiefs or drive with car windshield pulled, were seen enjoying the moist in the air under an overcast sky complete with dark wet clouds, dripping down sporadically.
Youngsters were seen huddled in groups indulging in hot cups of ginger tea and dal vada.
"There is no doubt the weather's very romantic. The cold breeze and the mist were bonus. While I enjoyed change in weather, I feel it made me trifle lazy not having sunlight for the entire day," said Prashad Patel, a student.
On the other hand, because of the cyclonic effect in Arabian Sea around 73 districts in Gujarat received rainfall. Officials at the emergency operation say, Vansda in Navsari district registered 60 mms and other 11 talukas received more than one inch rain.
