Five convicted in bank forgery case

Special judge of the CBI courts, Belaben Trivedi on Tuesday awarded seven years imprisonment and fine of Rs50,000 each to all five accused in connection with a bank forgery case.

The five accused - Anil Rawal, Rajesh Kalani, Rajesh Parmar, Nikhil Rajguru and Piyush Raja -  were accomplishes in the case of depositing a fake bank draft at the Bhavanagar branch of the Shihore Nagrik Cooperative Bank and withdrawing Rs26.22 lakh during various periods of time between 1999 and 2000. 

According to the case details, more than hundred blank demand drafts and money amounting in lakhs were looted in the bank heist at SBI, Gaya (Bihar) branch in year 1999. Anil Rawal and Rajesh Parmar, two residents of Bhavnagar managed to get three blank demand drafts from this heist and planned to encash them.

Later, Rawal and Parmar contacted a third person Rajesh Kalani who later introduced them to his brother-in-law Nikhil Rajguru, who was the manager of Shihore Nagrik Cooperative bank. Nikhil Rajguru assured Rawal and Parmar of enchasing the drafts and asked them to open bank accounts.

The duo opened two banks accounts under false names of Sunil Rawal and Rajuba Keshuba Chauhan, respectively.  Later, the four were joined by another person Piyush Raja who helped them in making drafts and gave three drafts to Rawal and Parmar.
