Fishermen return safely to Rameswaram

Fishermen had been alleging that Lankan naval personnel had been attacking them and seizing their catch.

Fishermen, who put to sea from here, returned this morning safely with their catch. They said they set sail in 527 mechanised boats for fishing last night near Katchatheevu.
  
They said Sri Lankan navy was partrolling the area but did not stop them from fishing.
  
Fishermen had been alleging that Lankan naval personnel had been attacking them and seizing their catch. Each boat returned with nearly 70 kg of fish,they said.
   
Meanwhile, fishermen from Pambam began an indefinite strike from today condemning attacks on fishermen allegedly by Lankan navy. They wanted government to take steps to help them fish without any fear, the sources said.
