Fire at jute mill in Kolkata, no casualty

A fire broke out at a jute mill in North 24 Parganas district this afternoon, triggering panic among the people. No casualty was, however, reported.

Four fire tenders rushed to the spot after the blaze was reported at around 1.40pm at Naihati Jute Mills, situated in the northern fringes of the city.

The situation was brought under control by 4.30pm, an official at the fire department said.

The exact cause and the extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.
