Accused in the murder of the land broker may have already fled city.
The three accused for killing financer and land broker Rajiv Shah are still out of reach of Surat police and are untraceable. Even after 24 hours have passed post the murder, cops are still clueless about the whereabouts of Amar Thakkar, Mehul Lakhani and Hiren Kakadia.
Sources said that trio is planning to leave Surat to prevent possible arrest. Shah's murdered has shocked the city and especially the police department.
While the motive behind Shah’s murder seems to be business rivalry, city police seems to be clueless with where the criminals are.
On Tuesday, police officials conducted raids and search operations at various places in the city to get some clue. The police also took statements of Rajiv's family members and business associates and later visited trio's residence.
Sources said that that police officials are also going to take statements of all close friends and relatives of Amit, Mehul and Hiren, to find out undisclosed facts. Meanwhile, the police is trying to locate the mobile numbers of three accused to locate their hideout.
Sources said that Amit, Mehul and Hiren are planning to leave Surat soon to prevent any possible arrest. The police is suspecting that trio might have moved to Mumbai and could even leave country to save themselves from legal tangles. Because of this city police officials are in constant touch with the police in Maharastra, Rajasthan and MP.
DR Patel DCP (zone II) said that search for all the accused in the case is going on and police will nab the culprits in a short period of time. However he did not disclose the course of investigation.
"We have taken statements and still our investigation is on. At present it is too early to say whether they have gone out of Surat or not," Patel added.
Police sources said that Amit, Mehul and Hiren allegedly have links with underworld gang leaders. It is believed that trio might use this connection either to flee from the country or remain underground.
