FCI planning 10 godowns to store food in Arunachal Pradesh

The body is hoping extra storage in different districts will help facilitate the food distribution system throughout the state.

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) plans to construct 10 godowns to store food growns in the district headquarters of Arunachal Pradesh soon, as a way of avoiding impediments while supplying to remore areas of the state.

"[The] land allocation process for the proposed godowns in seven districts has been completed and it is in progress in Tawang, Aalo and Anini," FCI Deputy General Manager (Arunachal Pradesh region) Harish Chander told the first meeting of the state consultative committee of FCI today.

He said altogether 197 posts have been sanctioned by
the authority to fill up the vacancies under Arunachal Pradesh
region of FCI, which would provide employment opportunities to
eligible youth in the state.
     
Chander added that the difficult topography of the state meant they were unable to reach every part of the state and would have to leave some people unsatisfied.
 
Citing the recent establishment of an FCI regional office  in the state capital, the DGM promised to address various grievances pertaining to Public Distribution System items in the state soon.
