The Congress members have alleged favouritism in procuring colour doppler machines for LG hospital. The issue came to light at the hospital committee meeting on Tuesday.

Iqbal Sheikh, member of hospital committee, said that the tender to purchase colour doppler machine for LG Hospital was invited thrice.
"Surprisingly, each time the specifications for the machine were changed," said Sheikh. He alleged that the authorities removed certain specifications so that it could match the specifications of the machine provided by one Wiprog-E company.
He also claimed that neither the hospital authorities nor the chairperson of the committee could give a satisfactory reply as to why certain specifications were changed.
The members also drew attention to the fact that unauthorised pharmacists are taking care of distribution of medicines in the Shardaben hospital.
In the women and child welfare committee meeting, chairperson Asha Tekwani failed to answer the queries raised by her colleague from the Congress.
When Bhanu Makwana of the Congress asked her about the grant from the centre, state and AMC , Tekwani said that the department gets grant only from the state.
Tekwani was ignorant of the fact that under the Centre's National Family Help scheme, if the main earning member of a BPL family is killed, his kin are entitled to an aid of Rs10,000.
An annoyed Tekwani asked Makwana not to seek information and take note of the work undertaken by the committee. However, Makwana stuck to her point and caustically replied, "I am not here for tea and allowance."
