Haryana Textiles, a factory undergoing repair and renovation work collapsed on Sunday afternoon killing an 18-year-old labourer on the spot. The factory is located behind the Shahwadi village in Narol.

The renovation work was going on for the last few weeks when suddenly the building collapsed.
Fire brigade personnel were called at 1.20 pm. Five labourers including the deceased, who were working at the site, got injured.

On Sunday, the workers were removing a large water tank positioned on the roof when it collapsed and killed Sukhram Garasia (18), a resident of Vatva, on the spot.

According to the fire officials, four labourers who were rescued by the fire brigade from beneath the debris were later admitted to the LG Hospital. These include Sandeshbhai, Rajubhai, Tinabhai and Goplabhai. However, Garasia could not be saved.

Primary investigation revealed that the factory has remained closed for the last 12 years as it was gutted twice in fire accidents during this time period.

The fire incidents had reportedly made the structure weak, fire officials claim. Considering this, the owners had decided to do some renovation work in the building.

The structure collapsed while the labourers were breaking the tank on the roof as there was no extra support provided to the roof from inside which led to the collapse.
