Despite decreasing temperatures in the city and the general trend of reduction in number of cases of vector-borne diseases, falciparumclaimed one more life on Thursday in the city.
There is more shocking news. On Thursday, the number of disease cases recorded in municipal hospitals also shot up. According to the health report of the day, 12 cases of falciparum were registered, while five cases of malaria, as well as nine cases each of jaundice and dengue recorded. In the 10 days since November started, the total falciparum cases registered in the city have reached a whopping 95!
Allarakha Shaikh, 72, was the latest victim to succumb to falciparum at VS Hospital on Thursday. Shaikh was admitted to the hospital on November 8 and died while undergoing treatment.
