Six persons, including two government employees, have been arrested and a large number of fake stamps and electoral photo identity cards (EPIC) were recovered from their possession in Jammu, a police official said in Jammu.
On specific information, police arrested six persons and recovered 25 stamps of senior officers and 13 EPICs from their possession in Janipur area of the city yesterday, he said.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vijay Kumar Verma, an employee of geology and mining department, Ajit Kumar, working with Jammu Municipal Corporation, Sanjeev Chadha, a property dealer, Shiv Kumar, Manjeet Kumar and Bharat Bushan alias Jagga.
The fake EPICs were being used to execute land deeds and obtain SIM cards, he said, adding the fake stamps seized from the accused were in the name of RTO, electoral officer and some officials of the civil secretariat.
