Former MP Jambuwantrao Dhote today announced the formation of Janata Congress to combat unilateral politics coupled with injustice and selfish ends. He released the manifesto of his party and said that decision on coalition with other parties would be taken later.

Dhote said that the decision to launch Janata Congress was taken after a 'Chintan Baithak' (brainstorming session) which discussed various issues. He appealed youths to join his revolutionary politics instead of towing the line of corrupt and selfish politics of other parties.

Dhote said that election could not be contested on the basis of only money power, but activists' support is equally important for that. Dhote said that he has formed the Janata Congress "as a corruption-free party."

Training his guns on Congress, BJP, Shiv-Sena, NCP and Third Front, he said that all these parties are traders and none of them has even spoken a word about corruption.

Because of the apathy of these parties towards corruption and criminalisation, persons like Arun Gawali and Pulan Devi reached the Assembly and the Parliament, Dhote alleged. He described the current political situation as dynasty-based and not thought-based. He said that he has formed the Janata Congress Party for humanity-based politics.

He did not belive in behind-the-curtain politics and said that during the defeat of Indira Gandhi in 1977, all leaders left her, but he stood firmly behind 0her. He alleged that leaders have become rich and strong by "looting the money of the people."

He said that the names of the candidates of his party for the forthcoming Assembly election in the state would be announced soon. Dhote assured to use the youth for nation building, to bring a ban on liquor, to develop corruption-free society and uproot goondaism.
