There is enough evidence to prove that former Haryana top cop SPS Rathore, convicted for molesting teenager Ruchika Girhotra, had committed the crime, the Punjab and Haryana high court was told today.

Arguing on the petition filed by the ex-DGP challenging his conviction, the counsel for the complainant in the case said that the testimonies against Rathore could not be denied by him.

Documentary evidence is sufficient to prove that the former DGP had committed the crime, Pankaj Bhardwaj, counsel for complainant Madhu Parkash, the mother of the prime witness Aradhana, told Justice Jitendra Chauhan.

He contended that the statements given by Ruchika and her friend Aradhana and the inquiry report of the then DGP RR Singh are enough to prove that Rathore had committed the crime.

The counsel said that the prosecution story in the case was flawless.

Earlier, Rathore's counsel Abha, who is also the wife of the ex-DGP, contended that Madhu Parkash had no local standi to put her arguments before the court.

However, Bhardwaj argued they were complainants in the case and it was on their complaint that the lower court had enhanced Rathore's jail term from six to 18 months.

The CBI and Abha had completed their arguments in the molestation case.

On May 25, a local court had awarded an 18-month prison term to Rathore for molesting 14-year-old Ruchika, a budding tennis player.

A day later, Rathore, lodged in the Burail jail, filed a revision petition before the Punjab and Haryana high court challenging his conviction.
