Students of Mehsana Engineering College in Vadnagar are at the receiving end due to acute shortage of academic staff in the college.

The college has been started as semi-finance degree
engineering college under the state government's scheme of public private partnership. Students of the college submitted a memorandum to the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) authorities on Monday demanding the appointment of teaching staff.

According to the sources, as per the guidelines minimum 12 teachers are needed, but at present the college has only 7 teachers. The college has been functioning since last one year. The GTU authorities have assured the students that soon new teachers will be recruited.

It is to be noted that two weeks ago students of another engineering college running under PPP model at Porbandar had also protested over the shortage of academic staff in the college.
