Encephalistis deaths reported in Manipur

In all the districts, work of spreading anti-mosquito spray was being sprayed, sources said appealing to the general public to take precautions not to allow themselves to bite by mosquitoes.

Manipur health department has made an all out effort to prevent spread of suspected Japanese encephalistisin the state with three persons reported dead with the disease, official sources said today.

Sources said out of 27 blood samples, suspected to be the cases of acute encephalistis syndrome, which were sent to Regional Medical Research Centre at Dibrugarh in Assam, 24 cases were confirmed positive.

Sources said three persons died of the suspected cases and an all out effort was being made to prevent spread of the diseases.
