A senior citizen shot himself in his little finger accidentally at Satellite police station while he was depositing his German pistol for renewal of his license. The man, a retired customs superintendent, was rushed to a private hospital by the police officials. His finger is said to have been damaged severely.

According to Satellite police officials, the man, identified as 61-year-old Ghanshyam Barot, resident of Sumeshwar Complex near Shyamal crossroads, was depositing his pistol for renewal of his license. Police said that Barot was under impression that the pistol was empty. While he was handing it over to the police official, the pistol accidentally fired.

"Barot had no idea that there was a bullet left in the self loaded German made Lama pistol. He was carrying it in his right hand and while handing it over to the police official, he mistakenly fired a shot in the little finger of his left hand," said a police official.

Several police officials heard the sound and rushed to the room number six where the incident occurred. Barot was immediately taken to a private hospital. Police said that his finger was severely injured.
