A 66-year-old man died allegedly after he was shoved by a constable who was engaged in a heated argument with his son in south Delhi, police said today.

The deceased Anil Kumar was travelling in a car with his son Mohit Arora (32), both residents of Geeta Colony in east Delhi, when the incident took place late last night.

Mohit was driving under the influence of alcohol and constable Vikram Singh stopped him for checking. He argued that he was not drunk and this resulted in a heated argument leading to a scuffle between them, police said.

The father tried to intervene and was pushed away by the constable. Kumar fell on the ground and lost consciousness.

He was rushed to Safdarjung hospital where he was declared brought dead.

"The medical authorities on preliminary examination have not indicated any external injuries on the body of the deceased," police said.

"A case has been registered under section 304 of IPC at Delhi Cantt police station. The investigations have been transferred to Crime Branch," police said.
