Eight killed in Gujarat building collapse

Eight persons were killed after a two-story building collapsed at Prabash Patan town in Junagadh district this morning, police said.

The building collapsed at 4.30am and nine persons, who were sleeping inside the building, were buried under the debris, Junagadh superintendent police Dipankar Trivedi said.

Eight bodies have been taken out, Trivedi said adding work is still on to rescue a woman who is trapped under the debris.

The deceased have been identified as Chandrikaben Devu, 60, Dipa Kishanchand, 26, Jasbir Kishanchand, 28, Kanchan Sajanlal, 17, Dipa Sajanlal, 19, Sajan Devumal, 55, Dinesh Kishanchand, 32, Veshali Sajan, 16, police added.
