Eight persons were killed and 12 injured when a van collided with a lorry near here today, police said.

They said the van was carrying 20 persons when it collided with the gravel laden lorry. They were returning to Devadanapatti after attending a funeral.

The victims were all occupants of the van, police said.

The injured were hospitalised.
