Around 34 trucks, 18 camel carts, two music bands, dhol-walas and Muslim devotees in thousands will join the procession.
The message of communal harmony will run deep in the colourful decorations, huge artificial structures resembling Mecca mosque and many things prepared to celebrate Eid-e-Milad, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed, on Wednesday. Muslim brethren of the city will display banners calling for communal accord among communities during a large procession to be carried out on the occasion.
Around 34 trucks, 18 camel carts, two music bands, dhol-walas and Muslim devotees in thousands will join the procession.
The preparations and celebrations are on for the last ten days wherein societies in Muslim areas of the city have been conducting lectures on Prophet Mohammed, the founder of Islam. These lectures are drawing crowds by the thousands.
To promote communal harmony in the city, banners bearing slogans of communal harmony will be displayed. "We wanted to highlight the philosophy of Mohammed, who had said 'Rehmat' (peace) should prevail in the whole world. There will banners containing sayings of the Prophet also in the procession in which more than 3,000 people are expected to participate," stated JV Momin, chairman of the Eid-e-Milad central committee.
The parade will begin from Jamalpur Darwaza at 3 pm and will be inaugurated by city mayor Asit Vora and the mahant (priest) of Jagannath Temple.
The procession will march past Teen Darwaza, Vatwa Sharif, Relief Road, Siddi Sayyed Masjid, Dinbai Tower and will end at Mirzapur in the evening, where a public meeting has been organized, Momin said.
"Trucks have been decorated to make them attractive and sayings of Prophet Mohammed have been inscribed on them. Also, artists are giving finishing touches to the artificial structures which will move along with the procession," Momin further said.
Artist Mohammed Shaikh of Manek Chowk has prepared a large gourd with the holy mosque (Kaba Madina) in between. "Every year, the Eid-e-Milad committee awards the best structure maker. I have been preparing various structures for the last five years and every year I have secured the first or second prize," he said.
