Securitymen today stepped up efforts to track down the ultras responsible for the assault on CRPF personnel in Lal Chowk area in Srinagar and Sopore town in which three persons were killed.
Vehicles were being thoroughly searched and pedestrians frisked across Kashmir valley in a bid to nab the culprits, police said.
Two militants had targeted the CRPF patrol at crowded Koker Bazar area here and attacked a police party in crowded bus stand in Sopore, 55km from Srinagar, both on Tuesday in which three persons, including a constable, were killed and eight others, including three securitymen, injured.
Al-Nasireen and Farzandan-e-millat jointly owned the responsibility for the Koker Bazar attack but no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the Sopore attack.
Meanwhile, shops and business establishments reopened in Lal Chowk and adjoining areas after a day's strike by traders demanding removal of the CRPF bunker from the place.
However, these establishments remained closed in Sopore town of north Kashmir for the second day today.
Locals clashed with police this morning when law enforcing agencies prevented them from taking out a rally in the town, they said.
