EC team to travel to Egypt tomorrow to help conduct polls

Ceding to the requests of the new Egyptian government, an Election Commission delegation is leaving for the country tomorrow to help the new transitional authorities there conduct free and fair polls.

The six-member delegation, led by chief election commissioner SY Quereshi, will visit Egypt for a total of three days to help them organise polls specially with Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).

"The request had been made by the Egyptian government and the government of India had asked forwarded the request to us, which we happily accepted," EC director general Akshay Raut said here today.

The delegation will meet the Egyptian deputy Prime minister, foreign minister and interact with their counterparts, he added.
