In a horrific turn of events, a double rape case came to light in the city on Friday. One Suresh Bheel alias Sendhaji, a notorious bootlegger, raped two middle-aged women to exact revenge on their kin who eloped with his daughter. Sendhaji was arrested by Sarkhej police on Saturday
in the case.
Asarva-resident Sendhaji, was livid when he came to know that his daughter ran away with his neighbour, Ramesh Bheel (name changed), as they were in love with each other. Sendhaji, who wanted to exact revenge on the boy, targeted his mother and aunt.
On Friday, Ramesh's mother and aunt were standing near Khodiyar Mata temple near Sarkhej railway station when Sendhaji reached the spot in a car with 10 of his accomplices. He forced the women into the car and drove away to Sanand, then Virangam and finally to his residence in Asarva. Here he forced himself on both the women at knife point, raping them by turns.
The accused let the mother go but held the aunt back, who was to be released in exchange of the accused's daughter. Ramesh's mother went straight to Sarkhej police, who with the help of Shahibaug police arrested Suresh from Asarva area. The aunt was also recovered from a house in Sabarmati.
A complaint was registered with Sarkhej police against Sendhaji and his accomplices for kidnap, rape, and loot.
