Amidst reports about alleged irregularities committed by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in awarding Commonwealth Games projects, the Delhi government today said she did not favour any particular firm and all due procedures were followed in awarding contracts.

Delhi Chief Secretary P K Tripathi told reporters that reports alleging that the Chief Minister favoured a particular firm in the street-lighting project was totally wrong.

"The Chief Minister never favoured any company to get contract as reported by media quoting CAG report," Tripathi said.

"All due procedures were followed in awarding the contracts. No irregularities were committed in purchasing of potted plants. Chief Minister was not at all involved in any of the purchases," he said.

However, he did not rule out any wrongdoings by the company Spaceage, which got part of the contract for installation of streetlights across the city. He said Spaceage was considered for the contract following a directive from the Delhi High Court.

Earlier in the day, Dikshit evaded questions on the Comptroller and Auditor General reportedly rapping her government for irregularities in CWG projects, saying she will comment only after the report is tabled in Parliament.

"I will not comment on CAG. Let it be tabled in Parliament. Then only I will say anything," Dikshit said.

She was asked to comment on reported observations by CAG about irregularities in certain contracts related to the Commonwealth Games.

The report, yet to be tabled in Parliament, has reportedly pointed out that Spageage, one of the disqualified firms bidding for street lighting was declared qualified irregularly after it made a plea to the Chief Minister.

It also reportedly found overspending by the Delhi government and civic agencies to the tune of over Rs 100 crore over streetscaping and an excess expenditure of Rs 31.07 crore on street lighting by MCD, NDMC and PWD.
