Despite senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh receiving flak for visiting the families of alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists in Azamgarh, there are indications that party general secretary Rahul Gandhi may too pay a visit soon.

According to sources, it was Singh who suggested that Rahul visit Azamgarh. The suggestion was made by Singh when he submitted a report of his visit to party chief Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday.

Rahul, who has been working with Singh to revive the Congress in UP, may thus visit Azamgarh’s Shibli National College in February or March. The college is known for promoting Hindu-Muslim bonhomie. It is not clear whether Rahul would meet relatives of the IM operatives who had been arrested for the Delhi blasts and the Batla shootout.
