To increase security measures at the hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa, a digital monitoring system, website and SMS service system at Pamba was oepned by Kerala home minister, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Twenty cameras were installed at various points between Pamba and Sannidhanam for identifying any anti-social elements who come along with the devotees, a temple press release said.

The cameras will be capture the images of those coming to Sabarimala and the recorded images can be used for further verifications. The control of these cameras will be from the Police control rooms in Pamba and Sannidhanam. The Cameras will be working not only in Sabarimala season but also during offseasons too, the release said.

The website focuses on helping the devotees in getting police assistance and also other information related to the Pilgrimage. The information from website can be collected in English, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu and includes details like number of devotees waiting for darshan, movement of devotees in the hill route and other necessary arrangements regarding darshan.

The devotees can SMS in no: 537252 from any part of Kerala and get information regarding vehicle parking, queue facility, climate condition and other emergency service.

Kerala police state crime records bureau has developed the software and the system installed by Keltron with the technical help of Kerala State Wide Area Network (KSWAN), BSNL, Kerala State Information Mission, Kerala University Linguistic Department and Andhra Pradesh police.
