It may sound shocking to many when the SIT will allegedly mention in its closure report that there was no truth in Zakia Jafri’s complaint, which was once quoted as ‘Bible of SIT’ by the SIT chief RK Raghavan. Sources close to the development said that the SIT may now consider the complaint as hollow with no truth in it.
These sources said that SIT sleuths have found no evidence of witnesses against 63 people named as accused by Zakia Jafri in her complaint filed before the Supreme Court. However, no official has confirmed this on record, sources in the SIT said that Jafri’s complaint may be proved to be hollow.
Sources said that the SIT has also allegedly given a clean chit to chief minister Narendra Modi in the case and no one from the police department mentioned in the complaint has been found guilty by SIT.
Sources in SIT have also said that the cops have found that Ahesan Jafri had made no calls either to the then police commissioner PC Pande and chief minister Narendra Modi on February 28, 2002. The SIT may file this detail in the closure report.
The SIT filed a report to the Judicial magistrate in Metropolitan court. However, the SIT has been investigating the case for the last few years and has even recorded the statement of Narendra Modi and many other officers as well as ministers and office-bearers of BJP since then.
SIT is investigating the Godhra and post Godhra riot cases, after the Supreme Court directed it to investigate Zakia Jafri’s complaint. The Civil Rights Activists too have agitated against SIT’s filing of the closure report and some of the activists may meet SIT chief RK Raghavan in this connection.
