Did someone plan rioting in Ahmedabad?

If the buzz among the residents of Shahpur area is to be believed, the riots that have been going on were pre-planned. Residents and even some community leaders claim that there were attempts to create a rift even before the first incident of clash was reported.

Member of the peace committee, Shahpur police station, Shabbir Sheikh told DNA that some anti-social elements are being used by some local political leaders to create panic in the area. "There were many attempts to disturb the peace in the last few days," said another resident Shakila Banu.

She said that some people had recently made it a habit to get drunk and abuse women of a particular community so as to provoke the men of the community.

Others also pointed out to several incidents that happened in the place of worship of a particular community. 

"Some people had purchased bricks in large numbers to construct small walls on their terraces," a resident of Bhavanpura Ni Pol, Geeta Patel told DNA. The residents of Bhavanpura Ni Pol said that some people living in the same lane had purchased bricks days before the first incident of communal clash was reported.
