The Camp hanuman temple situated in the Cantonment area of Ahmedabad celebrated Hanuman Jayanti on Monday by preparing a huge 250-kg 'cake' from mawa and distributing it among devotees. Hanuman Jayanti, which commemorates the birth of Lord Hanuman, was celebrated at temples across the city on Monday.

“This is the first time we have made such a huge cake; last year's cake weighed just 200 kg," said Parthiv Adhyaru, chairman of Shri Camp Hanuman Mandir Trust.

"Actually, it is not really a cake but original 'doodh ka halwa' given the shape of a cake to attract children. We even put candles on it to make it a true celebration of Lord Hanuman's birth."

More than 10,000 devotees had flocked to the Hanuman temple to witness the celebrations. Adhyaru said 10,000 chocolates, 3,000 balloons and 1,000 whistles were distributed among children on the occasion. Similar celebrations were held at other Hanuman temples of the city.
