Chief minister K Rosaiah has reiterated his government's commitment to continue the social welfare and development schemes initiated by late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Speaking at several engagements at coastal town of Baptla, 50 km from here, today he said there is no proposal to launch new schemes. "We want to streamline the existing schemes to ensure that the benefits of them reach the targeted people," he added.

The existing schemes cover all sections of people and take care of their welfare and development, the minister said.

Speaking at a meeting of farmers, Rosaiah promised to ensure that the Food Corporation of India (FCI) purchase large quantity of paddy accumulated with farmers and inputs like seeds and fertilisers are sold to the farmers at subsidised prices.

Rosaiah laid the foundation stone for Rs 500 crore scheme to modernise Krishna Western Delta System which is crying for
attention.

The Delta System canals are silted, their banks are weak and seepage is alarming, reducing their carrying capacity of water.
