Ulfa chief Arabinda Rajkhowa is now under the custody of the Indian government. Rajkhowa was handed over by Bangladesh in Tripura on Wednesday, and has now been flown to the national capital.
Earlier on Wednesday, home minister P Chidambaram said in the Rajya Sabha that if Ulfa issues a statement to offer talks, the Centre would give its nod only if the outfit agreed to stop violence.
Rajkhowa's arrest has led many people to believe that the peace process in Assam would begin once again.
Following the arrest of the Ulfa chief, an alert has been sounded across Assam.
