CHANDIGARH: Dera Sacha Sauda on Sunday demanded a judicial probe into the Punjab Police declaring five women,  who are followers of the Sirsa-based sect, as suicide attackers and said their photographs were put up in police stations even 'without a case being registered' against them.

"A judicial probe is necessary to bring out the truth in the wake of revelation of Punjab Police against the five women, who have families, and do not have any criminal record or background," chief spokesman of the Dera Aditya Insaan and chief of women's wing Himali Insaan told here.

Himali said they feared that a couple of the women could be "eliminated in a false encounter or arrested and tortured by the Punjab Police".

"The five women are living at a place considered safe out of fear of the Punjab Police," she said, alleging the police could 'stage-manage' an attack to 'defame the Dera'.

Aditya said it was a 'shameful act' of the Punjab government to label five housewives as human bombs and being threat to VIPs of the state without even registration of any case about their alleged illegal activities.

"Subsequently, a case was registered against them by the Punjab Police alleging that they had information that the women may self-immolate," he claimed.

"If the Punjab government or its police have any evidence against these women they should bring the same before the public through the media and also before the court," he said.

He also alleged that the police were acting at the behest of SAD President Sukhbir Badal to "malign the Dera in view of its growing popularity among the masses."
