Delhi's sex ratio skewed in high-end areas

Delhi has recorded a slight increase in sex ratio from 821 in 2001 to 866 in 2011 but a close look at statistics shows that it is most skewed in VVIP areas with high-end Connaught Place and Chanakyapuri topping the list of ignominy.

The child sex ratio too is not that impressive in the Lutyens' Delhi, the seat of the high and mighty of the country.

According to latest Census figures, the sex ratio of the whole of capital is 866, which witnessed an increase, while the child sex ratio is also 866, two down from 2001's 868.

The sex ratio in New Delhi district is at a dismal 811 while the child sex ratio is 884.

The Connaught Place sub division, the business hub of the capital, has a sex ratio of 828 women to 1,000 while the child sex ratio is at 942.

Chanakyapuri has the lowest sex ratio in the capital at 787 after Delhi Cantontment where it is 773. The child sex ratio in Chanakyapuri is 870.

Parliament Street subdivision has a sex ratio of 825 and child sex ratio of 871.

The highest sex ratio in the capital is in Central Delhi district at 892 which also has the highest child sex ratio of 902.

The affluent South Delhi has a sex ratio of 859, down from the state average of 866, while the child sex ratio is at 878.
