Technical glitches in the metro network may be causing inconvenience to commuters, but Delhi Metro chief E Sreedharan feels there is not "much of a problem," given the high frequency of trains.

Seeking to downplay the frequent breakdown of Metro network in the capital, Sreedharan said the Delhi Metro is in the process of improving the system so that technical glitches can be rectified.

He was replying to a volley of questions from mediapersons on glitches in Metro trains becoming a regular feature and the steps being taken by the organisation to reduce them.

"Actually there is not much of a problem. The system is designed to handle trains at an interval of 3 minutes. We are running trains every 2.5 minutes... that will have an effect," he said.

Admitting that some technical glitches have come up, Sreedharan said efforts were on to improve the system.

"We will get over it (glitches) very soon," he said.

To a question on why technical glitches happen very
frequently on the over-crowded Noida/Anand Vihar line, he said
there was no "special problem" on the corridor.

"Some small things happen and they throw up the whole system... in a month, glitches happen only on two-three days," he said.
