BJP on Tuesday termed as "pure drama" the Delhi government's rollback of Rs1.26 on the new petrol price and sought to know why the ruling Congress does not respond as promptly when demands for action against leadeRsinvolved in huge corruption are made.

"The Delhi government has taken a decision to go for a nominal cut of Rs1.76 in petrol prices with a simultaneous increase of Rs1.70 on CNG prices. BJP consideRsthis as nothing but pure drama," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.

The opposition maintained that since it is Congress which is in power both at the Centre and in Delhi, this step has no significance.

"When issues like Commonwealth Games, implementation of Shunglu Committee report and the like are raised, the government never gives such a quick response," she said.

BJP alleged that price of CNG- "which is the common man's fuel"- has been increased and this will lead to a hike in the fares for autorickshaws and buses.

"The ordinary person will be burdened," Sitharaman said.

The party also alleged that the Congress-led Sheila Dikshit government has made this move to get more votes but this would not happen.

"The hike in CNG will have a cascading effect on the prices of other commodities. This will give the government another opportunity to increase prices," the spokesperson said.

She asked the government to stop this "small drama" and also ensure that all corrupt ministeRsare made available for investigation against them.
