New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit today inaugurated an upgraded NDMC community centre at the posh Golf Link area and a residents' association facilitation unit at East Kidwai Nagar in the capital.
After inaugurating the centre, Dikshit appreciated the efforts of the civic body for upgrading the centre, which was originally constructed in 1970 with a single-storey structure.
She also planted a sapling in the complex. NDMC chairman Parimal Rai and vice-chairperson Tajdar Babar was present on the occasion, besides residents' association members.
The community centre has been upgraded with an additional floor, multipurpose halls, gymnasium room, office-cum-library, pantry and caretaker room. The entire complex is now centrally air-conditioned. The renovation work has been carried out at a cost of Rs2.25 crore.
Later, Dikshit inaugurated a porta cabin, or a meeting room for residents' welfare association members, in East Kidwai Nagar. It has been constructed at a cost of Rs2.82 lakh provided from MLA local area development fund.
