Judges’ cars are replaced in a year time and the Chief Justice’s court gets renovated in two month’s time.

But paperwork for installation of CCTV cameras hasn’t been completed despite tenders being put out three years ago, and during this time it was scrapped thrice.

First, prices quoted by the companies were considered to be high. Second time, there was just a single company that came forward. The third time round, the Delhi Police increased the number of cameras from 32 to 49 after the May 25 blast and changes had to be made again. The tendering process as so far cost Rs 60 lakh.

According to sources, the official car, Corolla Altis, of the judges were replaced by Skoda Laura cars.  “The cars had no mechanical fault but the judges wanted them to be replaced because of some security concerns,” a security official said.

The Delhi government has offered all the CWG security equipment to the HC on the condition that they could be used till the court acquired its own equipment. No decision has been taken in the matter.
