Assam government has failed to curb incidents of killings in lower Assam despite repeated assurances, the state's principal opposition party All India United Democratic Front (AIDUF) said on Sunday and demanded that the Centre declare the violence-hit parts as disturbed area.

"On August 22, two fishermen were killed in Chapar in Dhubri and again yesterday six persons who were on way home from relief camps were killed at Bijni in Chirang. Despite tall claims of security, the state government has failed to prevent such incidents from happening," AIUDF general secretary Aditya Langthasa told reporters here.

"If the situation continues this way for some more time, we demand that the Centre declare those areas as disturbed areas," he said and urged the Centre to conduct a CBI inquiry to investigate reasons behind the recent exodus of people of northeast origin from various states.

He alleged that some unidentified forces were trying to ensure continuation of violence in lower Assam and asked the state government to act fast and seize all illegal arms in the BTAD area.

"There should be one point agenda for all parties and outfits -- to bring peace and amity and facilitate return of the displaced people from the relief camps. This is not the time for blame game," the AIUDF leader said.

Parties like BJP, Bodoland Peoples Front and some outfits, he said, were adopting a partisan attitude and indulging in politics over the violence despite pleas to the contrary by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi during the August 17 all-party meeting.

Langthasa said AIDUF had complained to Union Home Ministry, besides the Telecom and Information and Broadcasting ministries over existence of four fake Facebook accounts of the party's president Badruddin Ajmal.

"Some miscreants had created those accounts and were uploading provocative statements. We have filed a complaint to concerned ministries yesterday and also going to lodge an FIR with the cyber cell of police," he added.
