The Ulfa today said a decision regarding talks with the government would be taken only after its 'chairman' Arabinda Rajkhowa and 'deputy commander-in-chief' Raju Barua, now in police custody, are sent to Guwahati Central Jail.

"Let them first come to the jail; we will discuss the matter and then take a decision in this matter. We are waiting for Rajkhowa and Barua to come to the jail," jailed Ulfa 'vice-president' Pradip Gogoi told reporters today.

Asked whether peace talks would be held, Gogoi, who was speaking when he was taken to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for treatment, said, "First let them (Rajkhowa and Barua) come, then we will tell you."

Asked to comment on his meeting Ulfa 'finance secretary' Chitrabon Hazarika and 'foreign secretary' Sasha Choudhury, who are in the jail along with him after a gap of many years, Gogoi said, "We are extremely happy to meet them."

Guwahati Central Jail, where several of the top Ulfa leaders are interned, has become the venue for its leaders to restart talks on the peace process with the tacit approval of the government.

Hazarika and Choudhury were remanded in judicial custody on December 7, and they were kept in the same cell as Gogoi and Ulfa 'publicity secretary' Mithinga Daimary at the Guwahati Central Jail.
