Dalit couple commits suicide in Ghaziabad

Two lovers belonging to the Dalit community allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Adwanpur crossing in Ghaziabad, police said today.

Ruling out foul play, they said the couple, Narendra (22) and Sonam (20) from Meerut district - both of them Dalits - allegedly committed suicide due to opposition by their parents on marriage.

They were employed in a private company in Partapur in Meerut, police said, adding the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
