Dacoits loot scrap dealer, kill his driver in Madhya Pradesh

Dacoits killed a person and looted gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs3 lakh from a Gujarat-based scrap dealer near Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh, police said today.

The incident took place last night at Deherwara area, about 45km from here. The dealer, Premchand Lodhi, along with his family, was on way to his Sindaria village in Orraia district of Uttar Pradesh in his car when a gang of dacoits moving in a jeep forced them to stop and started beating them.

They snatched 14-tola gold ornaments and Rs 38,000 cash, totalling nearly Rs 3 lakh, from them and fled from the spot along with their car driver, police said.

Later, the dacoits killed the driver, Kishan Pal, and threw his body in the forest near Dharampur. A case has been registered in this regard and further investigations are on, police added.
