Cyclone storm likely to cross Tamil Nadu coast tonight

The cyclone storm 'Ward', which had weekend and formed into a depression is likely to cross Tamil Nadu coast between Kaniyakumari and Nagapattinam districts tonight, Met officials said today.

Officials said under the storm's influence heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry region during the next 24 hours beginning 8.30am today.

Squally winds reaching 55-65kmph and gusting to 75kmph are likely along and off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast during the same period, they said.

Local cautionary signal number three kept hoisted at all ports of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, they said adding that fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea.
